Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant on the lookout for choice pearls.

After weeks of preparation, and hours of stuffing eggs, Resurrection Sunday has come and gone, and what a powerful one it has been. As we took the time to remember and celebrate the true cost that Jesus paid to be with us, what better way to show the kids the true pearl and worth we are to Jesus than to have a “pearl hunt?” with over 400 eggs stuffed with candy, the kids were told to choose just one of all of these choice pearls. Of all of the candy, and wonderful pastels, was there one pearl worth keeping, even if it meant losing the rest? (Don’t worry, we aren’t crazy, taking candy from a child is a riot waiting to happen ;) ) Are we willing to love Jesus like He has loved us? Children understanding the reality of what Jesus has done for us, and what this means for our lives, this is the revelation I hope you will join us in praying over every child in this ministry. Thank you to all of our volunteers for helping us pull off Easter service, we really couldn’t do it without you, the seeds you sew are irreplaceable, and of such value in the eyes of the Father, “Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the Kingdom of God belongs.” (Mark 10:13-16) These children have something valuable to teach us, as we are pouring into them, come be apart of raising up the ones whom the Kingdom of God belongs, we even have an online application, what could be easier? Keep those applications coming in and stay posted on what’s happening at the NLK by checking our website, facebook, and the parent e-mail.

Drive-In Movie Night

The snow is finally beginning to melt, and as Spring approaches there is nothing better than some family time with your little ones, and your friends. On Sunday March 18, at five PM, the New Life Women’s ministry will be putting on a drive-in movie night the whole family is going to love. It will be hosted at the church, and the big idea is that you come with a home made “drive-in car” that the kids can park in the auditorium, while watching the movie Cars 2. So now is the time for all you creative dads out there to shine, and help your kids build the coolest car out there, let’s see what you got! Get in those recycling bins and snatch up some cardboard, and let the creative juices flow, and for all your pinterest loving moms out there, it is time to put all your DIY skills to the test. Send us pictures and show us how those cars are coming along  at newlifekids@newlifeid.com or tag us in your photos on facebook! The cost to get in is only two dollars per family, so don’t leave anyone at home, and all of the money goes to support the New Life Women’s Ministry. Refreshments will also be provided, such as juice, popcorn and candy, for one dollar each. can’t wait to see you all there!

Discipling the Next Generation’s World Changers

Over the last few months, it has been such a joy to see all that the Lord is doing everywhere: worldwide, our region, Kootenai County, and right here at New Life. There is a stirring happening here in our own body, and as Bill Johnson said weeks ago, revival is breaking out in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. What is my favorite characteristic of Jesus, the fact that He is not a respecter of persons, and this revival that is here, anyone who wants to be apart of it can be, children not excluded. Throughout the last month Alexis Robertson and Rachel LaPolla have been running a small group for forth and fifth graders, meeting every other Wednesday from 7-9 PM. This group has consisted of worship downstairs with the youth, teaching, and practical ministry time.It is so encouraging to hear the testimonies of all of the students raving about how they have been hearing from the Lord and all that Jesus is doing in their hearts. This excitement for Jesus is being poured out into their daily lives, and everyone around them. Get one kid excited about anything and watch it spread like wildfire, get a group of world changers meeting and encouraging each other, whilst growing in the Lord,  now that is unstoppable. The Lord is shifting things in the children’s ministry through these kid’s and their passionate, obedient hearts. We are so blessed to have such loving and diligent leaders who are sincerely seeking to pour into these children of God, and we are even more excited for this next Wednesday. This week Pastor Mat will be joining the kid’s, Rachel, and Alexis at the small group, he will be teaching on moving in the prophetic and activating those prophetic gifts in all of them which the Lord so desires to use. So if you have a fourth or fifth grader and have never come before, or you come every time, you really really don’t want to miss this week! We will be meeting at 7pm, downstairs in the auditorium for worship, and then moving to R21, can’t wait to see what the Lord is going to do, see you there.

20 For ’12

Twenty Twelve has arrived, and new things are birthing along with a new year. The NLK is bringing in the new year with a Campaign for all you parents out there. in this next year, there will be 8,765 hours, and this year we are asking for twenty of them, that is .2% of your total time for the next year. As we all know, you guys play the most important role in your children’s life, and our heart for this ministry is to empower parents. One of our goals for this year is to get the parents plugged into the ministry, to be a part of it and to truly call it their own. We are asking of all of the current parents in our ministry to commit to serving twenty hours in the year 2012, whether that be teaching a class, coming up with a craft, helping with check in, and many other different roles. We are believing for more than just volunteers, but we are believing for unity between the parents, volunteers, children and pastors. We desire to not only have you guys in the classrooms teaching, or volunteering wherever you feel fit and called, but to also be coming alongside of you, encouraging you for all that you are doing, learning from you guys, because after all, you know your children a whole lot better than we do, and while we are utilizing you all in these ways we are positioned to be used by you as well. Lets do this together, and make the churches ministry our ministry. The churches children our children, and God’s vision our vision. While we step into a realm of discomfort, and a place of the unknown, the Lord can take us on an adventure that will change our lives forever. Whether you want to be behind the scenes or in the classrooms with the children, we would love to have you as a part of our family at the NLK. If you are interested in getting involved in this ministry, and impacting a generation of kids forever, we would love to have you as a part of our team. You can find applications on our website, or talk to someone at the check-in desks on a Sunday morning. We appreciate all that you do, from your hours of service, to your prayers for this ministry, let’s do 2012 together.

Pancakes and Pajamas

While the year winds down at the NLK, everyone gets all cozied up in their PJ’s for one morning of eating, movies, and fellowship. This year’s Pancakes and Pajamas was the forth year in a row, and with a movie like Cars 2 and some irresistible flap jacks, a successful one at that. Big thanks to some of our amazing volunteers, Mark and Beth Dempsey, as well as Dan Muldoon for putting together the whole event, serving pancakes, and loving on the kids. We are so blessed by you guys, thanks for all of your passion and love that you pour into the kids, and this ministry. With the smell of pancakes filing through the building, people quickly began to wonder where the food was at, and with a classroom full of stuffed kids and extra pancakes, Pastor Mat was left with an excellent idea. This year at the end of second service, we announced that all of the left over pancakes would be for sale, and all of the proceeds would go to none other than India of course! The few, but generous who heard this announcement headed straight for the pancakes and were excited to contribute to India fundraising.Though last minute, and impromptu, this day ended in raising around forty dollars for the ministries we support as a church in India, now that is what I call a hit of a morning. Thank’s for all of your support and prayers. Don’t forget to keep checking the website, Facebook, and parent e-mail for all that is to come as twenty eleven comes to a close and we enter into the new year with some new vision, Merry Christmas!

NLK Supports India Missions

Image

This fall has been a very exciting one for the new life kid’s ministry. As our amazing pastors and interns went on two separate trips to India, the teams were able to spend time ministering, and bringing in the Kingdom to those who were without. The team was able to spend some time with children at a local orphanage in India, and at a school where we were able to distribute over $850 to  a school called Vidya Jyothi in Dommeru, India.  We are so proud of our kids who were willing and able to raise all this over the last year! As the teams returned from India they were able to pour into us and into the kids a stirred up passion for the things on God’s own heart. We are currently in the process of raising even more money than we were able to last year, and are neck and neck between the boys and the girls, a seven cent difference to be exact. So far we have a total of $173.15, and we just began this September. Last year the girls ended in the lead with $332.85 while the boys brought in $276.75. Pastor Aimee and Rachel LaPolla took all of the girls to pizza and a day of hanging out to reward the girls and all of their efforts. Let’s keep this going parents, our children have a lot of passion and desire to go for it, let’s get along side of them, and let the Lord birth something huge. Keep praying for India, our kids, and amazing pastors and leaders.

VBS was Awesome

We had such an amazing time this year.  Neighborhood Park VBS was awesome, we averaged 75 kids per day at the 4 parks in Hayden, CdA, Rathdrum, and Post Falls.  We also had over 100 people show up for the family BBQ at the end of the week.  We had so many parents tell us how grateful they were that we came into their neighborhoods.  Thank you to all the parents and volunteers who were so supportive and hard working, your impact was felt by the kids, the parents, and the community.  Last but not least, a huge thank you to Alexis Robertson, Mia Portue, Rachel LaPolla, and Kristen Smith for leading at the four parks.  Couldn’t have done it without you.

Neighborhood Park VBS

Coming to a park near you August 15-19…the Big God Story.  The Neighborhood Park VBS will run from 1-4pm in the parks of Hayden (Hayden City Park), Coeur d’ Alene (Bluegrass Park), Rathdrum (Stub Myers Park), and Post Falls (Whitepine Park).  Bring your 5-11 year old for a week of fun, games, and God.  For more information, or if you would like to help out, contact Aimee Thomason @ 208.818.3176 or Alexis Robertson @ 208.699.4406

Family Camp 2011

Join us July 8-10 at Farragut State Park for our 3rd annual New Life Family Camp.  We want it to be a time for reconnecting as a family, relaxing, and having fun at the same time.  Contact Pastor Dave Bond for more information (208) 687-3606 or dbond@newlifeid.com
